Jovita’s owner, accused drug ring leader dead at 64
The owner and founder of Jovita’s restaurant, Amado “Mayo” Pardo died Wednesday, according to his attorney. The 64-year-old was indicted on federal drug charges after a raid last summer revealed Pardo was running a heroin drug ring in the shadow of his popular South Austin restaurant and music venue. His lawyer said he suffered from complications involving his liver, cancer, hepatitis and Parkinson’s disease.
