Jury hands Nestande 10 years probation, $10K fine

Story Summary:
Former Capitol staffer Gabrielle Nestande was sentenced Friday to 10 years of probation and a $10,000 fine for the hit-and-run death of Courtney Griffin in May of 2011. The jury took four hours to make the decision, after deliberating for 21 hours in the guilt/innocence phase of the 25-year-old's nine-day manslaughter trial. After the verdict, Griffin's mother said the jury has sent a message to the Austin community that it is okay to drink, drive and kill an innocent person.
