Ladies Without Limits: Race day tips
This weekend's Danskin Triathlon can be overwhelming for some first time triathletes. The course is challenging, so it's best not to get stressed before the race.
News 8 Austin's Veronica Castelo sat down with Tri Zones coach Tracy Nelson who shared these tips to get through the event with ease.
-- Pick up your packet at the Travis County Expo Center between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
-- Go to their Web site to find out what time you should arrive. Packet pickup is arranged alphabetically. Make sure and bring a photo ID and your USAT membership card or one-day pass registration number.
-- After picking up your packet, drive your bike to the race site and drop it off. This is mandatory. The bikes stay in a safe location overnight. You are not allowed to leave your gear or set up your transition area. You can only leave your bike. You have to check in your bikes from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-- The race starts at 7 a.m. but you should try and be there at 5:30 a.m., or 5:45 a.m. at the very latest.
-- Shuttles will start running at 5:15 a.m. Volunteers and athletes get on the shuttles first. Spectators are given third priority.
-- Shuttles will be running throughout the entire race. Spectators can arrive later and they will have shuttle service. There are more than 20 rides that start about 4 minutes apart.
-- You have to have your transition area set up by 6:45 a.m. regardless of what time your wave starts.
