Many airlines catered to the strong Longhorn showing anticipated for the BCS National Championship Game, by adding extra flights to Southern California from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide plays second-ranked Texas Longhorns for the championship in Pasadena, California Thursday night.

Some ate, others shopped and a few were on the job, but almost every Longhorn fan at ABIA Wednesday was waiting patiently to board a flight bound for Southern California.

It's safe to say they were excited.

"Very excited, did it four years ago. Going back to do it again," passenger Blake Murray said.

Passenger Ronnie Porfiro waited on a few friends before going through security.

"Going out to the game, to see the National Championship game. Get out of this cold weather for a while," Porfiro said.

Given the forecast for Central Texas this week, weather was on a few people's minds.

Alexa Simms and her sister Vanessa were due into California Wednesday afternoon.

"Awesome. The weather out there is perfect. You couldn't ask for anything better. Looking forward to the beach," Alexa said.

The Simms sisters looked to burn off a little energy before the flight, by tossing around a football right outside the gate.

"You know this is going to be [UT's fifth BCS title]. We can't wait. Hook 'em horns," Simms said.

Many airlines added flights to their schedules to accommodate the influx of passengers heading out for the big game. Passengers also said charter flights helped things run smoother.

Many told us they purchased their tickets well in advance. Some didn't even wait for the Big 12 Championship to play out.
