Jen Andrew runs Green Feet Fitness, a local fitness business that helps serve the community.

A year ago, she adopted a dog from the Austin Dog Alliance, when someone asked her an interesting question.

"Have you ever thought about doing a workout with dogs?," Andrew remembered.

The answer was yes, she had just never done anything about it. Together with Debi Krakar, executive director of the ADA, they hatched the plan for the Bow Wow Workout.

"The dogs need exercise, the people need exercise. They're bonding," Krakar said.

It's you and your pooch getting fit together.

"It is a lot more fun. Even though you're tired, having your dog there kind of inspires you to continue to work out," said Su Tu, who goes to Bow Wow Workout with her dog.

All dogs and owners are welcome.

"Our requirements are that they are friendly with people, friendly with dogs and have had at least one class of basic obedience," Krakar said.

Designing a workout fit for people and their four legged friends wasn't easy.

"Dogs, people, form with exercise, basic obedience with dogs. I was thinking this is either going to be a lot of fun or a giant disaster," Andrew said.

It's turned out to be fun for all. A one hour workout that combines cardio, weights and core.

"It is exhausting," Tu said.
