Lightning is to blame for two house fires in northern Hays County Monday night.

One of the fires occurred in the 15000 block of Fitzhugh Road, northeast of Dripping Springs. Flames broke out around 7 p.m. according to a neighbor.

The neighbor said because there were no fire hydrants in the area, firefighters had to haul water to the scene.

The owner of the house, David Little, survived a debilitating struggle and thrived. News 8’s Heidi Zhou talked to Little and his family about surviving the fire. Click on the video to hear their story.

News 8 also spoke with Little earlier this month. Click here to read how he is getting his life back, after losing his speech and control over much of the right side of his body due to a stroke.

The second fire occurred on Lost Valley Road off Fitzhugh Road, almost to Pedernales Falls State Park.

Fire investigators said the home was 90 percent destroyed.

No injuries were reported.
