Performers from across the state gathered in Austin to help send kids to math camp this summer.
Making Awesome Things Happen, or M.A.T.H., is a local nonprofit that helps children in need develop skills in mathematics.
Tarcia Jones is the founder of the camp. She started the organization to even the odds facing low income students.
"They don't have the privileges of their mom going out and hiring them a private tutor, or their mom paying for them to go to a summer math camp," Jones said.
News 8's parent company Time Warner Cable is sponsoring the free camp as part of our Connect a Million Minds initiative.
