The annual Austin Bar Crawl for Scoliosis took place Sunday in Austin.
The event is organized by News 8 Meteorologist Maureen McCann, whose been actively raising money for the National Scoliosis Foundation since 2004.
Scoliosis, a medical condition that curves the spine, affects about six million people in the United States. The condition can lead to limited activity, pain and difficulty breathing.
One woman who took part in the event recently found out her 13-year-old daughter has the condition.
"Once we got the brace, we had to shop for all new clothes and it was just really difficult, but she's been so great and just so mature about wearing it when she has to and figuring out the hours of the day when she has to wear the brace," participant Arden Harkins said. "So hopefully in six months, when we go back, the doctors will say that she doesn't have to wear it anymore."
