The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) can be a driving force in your child's development in science, technology, engineering and math.

The organization's largest outreach program, a 40-foot trailer known as the 'TAME Trailblazer,' is meant to spread excitement and knowledge about technology to minority groups throughout Texas.

TAME Trailblazer Coordinator Michael Nevels said the trailer features seven different exhibits about science, technology, engineering and math.

"We've got eyes and ears. We've got space science. We've got energy. We've got motion," Nevels said. "So it gets kids excited about what really science and engineering is all about."

About 15,000 kids in about 60 schools across the state get to see the Trailblazer in action throughout the year, including this summer.

Teachers wanting to know how to turn kids on to science and math took a tour of the TAME Trailblazer while it was in Austin last week.

Children in Houston will be the next group to see the trailer during its one month tour of the city.

News 8's parent company, Time Warner Cable, has developed its own program to get students excited about science, technology, engineering and math.
