Eye Candy Party: Couture bridal & a side of sweet décor
By: Guest Blogger: Cathy Hale
Austin’s east side was buzzing on Monday night as attendees flooded the
Eye Candy Photography Studio for an Austin Fashion Week cocktail party.
The event featured hair by Martha Lynn Barnes, who also co-hosted the event, and makeup by Kandy Glass. Models were wearing bridal dresses from CIARLAbride and cute sweets stations featured home treasures from Inglenook Décor.
I had an opportunity to chat with CIARLAbride’s designer Jessica Ciarla, who attended the party with her equally stylish pooch, Saffron. CIARLAbride features couture bridal gowns and fashion-forward cocktail dresses.
Ciarla, who had been living in New York for the past eight years, moved to Austin in 2009.
“The biggest change for me has been adjusting to the pace of city and the people,” she said. “People are more laid back here, so things don’t move as quickly.”
Ciarla said she likes it because she has more time to concentrate on her fashion and more time to devote to finding inspiration. “I love meeting all of the great people and working with young artists as opposed to huge corporations,” she added.
The beautiful home accents surrounding the models were furnished by the Inglenook Décor, a boutique featuring one-of-a-kind décor for your urban cottage. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a romantic or avant garde, you will find accents and accessories to help you design a space that brings you home to life.
Owner Maureen Alcid Toribio was on-hand taking pictures, doing interviews and mingling. She handed out adorable goodie bags (and hugs) after the event, which was the perfect finishing touch.
