The revived U.S. Grand Prix will be run on a 3.4-mile track with 20 turns and elevations up to 133 feet.

Race promoter Tavo Hellmund told The Associated Press the track, designed by German firm Tilke, will include grandstands near the start and finish line for up to 20,000 spectators with room for 50,000 or more around the rest of the track.

Hellmund called it a "throwback to old, classic tracks" with design inspirations from racetracks in Europe. Check out the drafts of the track layout below.

"For the competitors, we’ll have all the ingredients necessary," Hellmund said. "You’ll see fast turns that require commitment from the drivers and technical turns that will test the engineers from a set-up point of view. We have a good deal of elevation to make it not only scenic but challenging also, and the view of downtown Austin is wonderful as well."

The track could cost up to $220 million to build.

Formula One hasn't raced the U.S. Grand Prix since it was last held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2007. Formula One announced it had a 10-year deal to race in Austin beginning in 2012.
