News 8 Austin's Tracy Gladden filed the following video report.
Fall is just around the corner. So, if you're planning on entertaining, why not redecorate a little? One Austin designer can show you how, by using a small budget and the furniture you already have.
Sharon Miller is the owner of Calming Spaces, an interior decorating firm that teaches homeowners how to redecorate on a dime.
Tip: Paint the walls
“That is the least expensive most powerful thing that you can do. Like we've done here with the granite paint so it gives you a nice textural feel and contrast," Miller said.
Tip: Shop at consignments stores
"High end furniture pieces are coming into the consignment stores and we're able to pick those up for a fraction of the cost," Miller said.
Tip: Focus on details
“It's just small things like pillows, and bring in plants or faux florals that bring life to the room," Miller said.
If you’re looking for more tips on how to redecorate, just visit the DIY by Design workshop Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Home Consignment Center in Bee Cave.
