Extreme temperatures are forcing the nonprofit Austin Pets Alive! to close all of its offsite adoption sites.

Officials are asking the community to help get dogs adopted. They’ve lower adoption fees for all dogs over 6 months old to just $20 until they are able to start sending them to offsite adoption events again.

According to APA officials, it’s in the best interest of the animals to keep them at the group's resource and adoption center.

“We really need help getting our vans updated and reliable," Austin Pets Alive! Executive Director Ellen Jefferson said. "Without these vans in prime condition, we just can’t function at the level needed to keep adoption rates high.”
