A recent proposal by city staff would eliminate parking requirements in Downtown Austin and allow businesses to provide as many, or as few, parking spaces as they want.

Colin Pope, editor of the Austin Business Journal, said that eliminating the requirement would be more of a symbolic move because developers would still provide parking to keep tenants happy.
