Capital Tonight: Political positioning fills post-convention air

Michael Williams' name is familiar in Texas political circles. He was a state Railroad Commissioner, toyed with a run for Senate, and ultimately ran for and lost a seat in Congress. Now Williams replaces Robert Scott as Texas Education Commissioner. Governor Rick Perry appointed him to the post, two weeks ago, and last week, Williams announced a major policy change. This week, Capital Tonight's Karina Kling sat down for the first time with the new education commissioner.

Plus, a week after Mark Strama told our "Capital Tonight" crew in Charlotte he's interested in exploring a run for Mayor of Austin. Alana Rocha caught up with Strama Thursday about why he wants to jump from the Capitol to City Hall.

As always, our experts Harvey Kronberg, Harold Cook and Ted Delisi weighed in on the week's biggest headlines. Watch all of these stories and interviews in the clip below.
