It’s been a busy year in the world of Texas politics and Capital Tonight as been here right along the way.
The past year saw several Texas politicians move into the national spotlight, some more successfully than others.
On the presidential front, Gov. Rick Perry suspended his campaign in late January after disappointing polling numbers on the campaign trail. Longtime U.S. Rep. Ron Paul took his Libertarian message all the way through the primary season, but was ultimately defeated by Mitt Romney.
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, once a favorite to replace the retiring U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, lost a runoff election against Tea Party pick Ted Cruz.
With the 83rd Legislature kicking off in January, 2013 is already shaping up to be an exciting year in Lone Star politics. YNN’s Capital Tonight will be there too. And this year, Capital Tonight will be on five nights a week at 7 p.m. starting January 7.
We’ll see you then!
