U.S Senate candidate Ted Cruz has picked up the endorsement of Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson. Focus on the Family is an evangelical Christian organization based in Colorado.

Dobson released this statement about his endorsement, today:

“Ted Cruz stands out among conservative leaders across the country today. He has a consistent record of standing up for faith, family, and freedom, and winning values battles on a national level. Texas is the largest conservative state in the country. Open Senate seats don’t come along there every day. It would be an absolute travesty to squander this opportunity on another politician who compromises values to get votes. I urge all Texans who love life, family, faith, and freedom to not only vote for Ted Cruz, but to work hard for his campaign. This endorsement was made by me personally and not as a representative of any organization or non-profit entity.”

Cruz's endorsement comes one day after his opponent Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst released his first statewide television ad
