Minority groups, non-profits and some lawmakers want to see settlement on interim redistricting maps; and they want a seat at the negotiating table.

In a letter to Attorney General Greg Abbot, a coalition of African American, Latino and Asian groups stated that their communities "stand in solidarity behind the principles of the Voting Rights Act." The group expressed concern that the primary will be pushed back even later and asked that all parties be involved in the negotiations.

The letter comes as rumors surface that a possible settlement might be on the verge of collapse. The Hill cites one of the plaintiff's as saying "The chances for a settlement [are] remote right now, not impossible, but remote. It doesn’t appear as though the state attorney general was really serious about trying to reach a settlement."
