Raising children is no easy task, regardless of how they came to be in your care.

The Centers for Children and Families steps in to give adoptive families support and the resources they need to survive.

"All children are challenging," counselor Nancy Campbell said. "The whole point of post-adoption support is to be an additional person to keep the family intact. That's our primary goal, to keep adoptions intact, and keep relationships in the family as strong and as healthy as they can be.”

The nonprofit offers services including summer camp, financial assistance, therapeutic retreats and free babysitting.

"They all take a lot of our time and demand a lot of our energy so we have to be able to re-fuel," Campbell said. "The support service is kind of like, if you call a friend and say you're frustrated with your kid, your friend wouldn't be giving you a hard time. They would be including you and helping guide you in the right direction."
