Ruby Jane Smith is about to have her new album debut.

The album is called “Celebrity (Empire of Emptiness),” and it is set to hit shelves nationally on June 19.

“The album title comes from one of the main tracks on the album which is about the general message of celebrity in our culture and kind of the way we glamorize stars that necessarily haven’t made an impact on our world,” Smith said. “A lot of this album was inspired about the death of Amy Winehouse as well.”

Smith said she hopes her album sends a message of re-awakening.

“This is the grown up Ruby Jane as opposed to young fiddle Ruby Jane,” she said.

In the video above, Ruby Jane talks to Andy Langer about how her previous experiences have helped shape this album and bring her to this special moment in her life.
