Hendrix also said that the new location will be open by April 1st and that Antone’s is currently working to book a farewell show to be held on March 18 at its current location at Fifth and Lavaca streets.

A spokesperson for the club announced earlier this month that Antone’s would be leaving its current location in Downtown Austin. The spokesperson cited poor attendance and complaints from patrons about parking as issues behind the decision to move.

Antone's has moved a handful of times over its four decades in Austin. The club first opened for business on Sixth Street back in 1975 and spent a period of time on Guadalupe, which was arguably its most famous location.

Another historic Austin music venue, Emo’s, moved from downtown at the end of 2011. They moved into a larger venue on East Riverside Drive next to where Antone’s will be moving.
