Austin filmmaker Kat Kandler often draws inspiration from crazy stories told at family gatherings, like the one that led to "Hellion."

Looking for a rustic location they shot the film during a dry, hot summer in Georgetown which came with some cautious challenges. In its six-minute duration the heavy-meal laden drama is directed toward father-son relationships with local actor Jonny Mars dealing discipline.
