Consider Houston film maker Kelly Sears both an animator and a re-animator bringing once forgotten media back to life.

Her newest short film "Once It Started It Could Not End Otherwise," carries a mysterious vibe inspired by awkward and terrifying expressions she found in a 1974 high school yearbook. Sears specializes using discarded materials to make animated films and is making her fourth appearance at the Sundance Film Festival this week. Her past films played the Austin Film Festival and multiple times in Sundance's New Frontiers category.

YNN's Victor Diaz has more with the filmmaker in the video above.

Behind the scenes: Sears reveals the method for making her latest short film.
