An odd mix of new arrivals makes the local movie scene even more eclectic this weekend.

Director Don Coscarelli's first feature film since "Bubba Ho-Tep" opens at the Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter Lane. Rudolfo Anaya's landmark novel Bless Me, Ultima gets a big screen adaptation and Austin filmmaker Elizabeth Mims makes her feature directorial debut with a coming of age documentary opening at Violet Crown Cinema.

Meanwhile, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's latest action flick may crack the top spot at the box office.
