FBI will investigate Rocha shooting
The FBI will get involved in the case of an 18-year-old shot to death by an Austin Police Department officer.
Daniel Rocha was killed last Thursday by officer Julie Schroeder. Police say the shooting happened during a struggle.
The U.S. Justice Department ordered the FBI to start an independent investigation.
Austin Police Chief Stan Knee said APD will hand over all important documents in the case. He said it's good to get a set of "outside eyes."
"The FBI and civil rights division of the Department of Justice ... are very well trained, and I think it will be a complete and thorough review of what happened,” Knee said.

Chief Knee says his department will still run its own internal investigation.
Autopsy results show Daniel Rocha was shot in the back, at close range.
The Travis County Medical Examiner says Rocha did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system at the time.
He did have a criminal history, including an outstanding warrant for theft at the time of his death.
Knee and other Austin leaders will host a Community Forum concerning the case Thursday night at the Dove Springs Recreation Center in Southeast Austin at 7 p.m. News 8 Austin will carry that forum live at 7 p.m. and rebroadcast it at 10:30 p.m. The forum will also be made available on News 8 Austin On Demand, digital cable Channel 1308.
