Federal investigators will investigate the shooting death of Daniel Rocha.

Rocha, 18, was fatally shot during a struggle with police officers in June 2005.

FBI Special Agent Rene Salinas said the investigation was called for by the Department of Justice, which looks into potential civil rights violations. Though FBI agents will be conducting the actual investigation, the results will be given to the Department of Justice.

Salinas said that at this time, there is no way to say when the investigation will be complete.

Officer Julie Schroeder, who shot Rocha, was fired in November after a departmental investigation.

Her partner, Sgt. Don Doyle, was also involved in the struggle with Rocha. He was suspended for 28 days following the incident.
