A fire led to the discovery of a body just south of Walter E. Long Lake in East Travis County Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Christy Lynne Espinosa.

The Travis County Sheriff's office said Espinosa was last seen early Wednesday morning celebrating Mardi Gras on Sixth Street.

A grass fire took hold of the area of the 6000 Block of Imperial Drive North earlier this week. An area resident, who saw smoke, said they thought it was another grass fire. But when Travis County deputies arrived, they found it was a body burning, not the grass.

By the time the flames were out the body was burned beyond recognition.

The official cause of death has not been released.
