According to a recent article in the
Austin Business Journal, Austin is seeing an increase in pedicabs downtown.
Pedicabs are like rickshaws, but the person pulling the cab is on a bike. They are designed for short lengths of distance.
At the moment, there is no set fee for a ride. City officials are looking at changing that.
"In the coming months, the city is going to start debating whether or not it needs to regulate things," Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said. "One of the things they will talk about is whether or not to establish a rate for pedicabs."
Pope talks more about the potential regulations on pedicabs, as well as taxis, with News 8 Austin's Paul Brown during the Business Connection.
