The Longhorn American Indian Council's annual University of Texas Powwow isn't just for Native Americans, it's a chance to welcome everyone back to campus with a celebration of indigenous culture.
The powwow is also a way for Native American students to find some cultural support.
"They soon find out that yeah, there are people on campus like them and that they do have a supportive network and that they're not as far away from home as they might think they are," Chris Neighbors, with LAIC, said.
Organizers estimate about 200 Native American students are attending UT this year.
