Commissioners pass tax rebate for proposed solar farm
A final vote was rendered Tuesday offering a local solar company tax rebate help to launch a solar farm outside Pflugerville.
Travis County commissioners voted to go ahead with tax rebates for RRE Austin Solar.
The company has purchased about 600 acres east of Pflugerville for a solar farm. The 60 MW energy plant would generate enough power for Pflugerville's schools and public facilities.
According to the Elgin Courier, if approved, the solar company would receive an 80 percent rebate on county taxes for the next two decades.
A county commissioner said the county would benefit financially from the farm. If it's built, the farm would generate about $60,000 in tax revenue annually for 20 years.
RRE Austin hopes to start building the farm by the end of this year.
