People go to tailgates for the atmosphere.

"Tailgating is a time to just hang out with good friends. Obviously, you start making friends tailgating around you. It just becomes one big block party, it seems like," Mitch Morton said.

But some people don't just go to the tailgates, they go early.

"We've been here since 8 a.m. and, of course, it's worth it. For every UT game, we come out here and do the same thing over and over again," Ryan Solis said.

A lot of tailgaters will tell you it’s not really a chore to wait around for the football game to start.

"We've been here since 8:30 this morning. We thought it was going to be a mad rush to get here and get the spots. It didn't quite turn out to be that way, but we did work on our tans, which is good," Paul Miller said.
