Two Municipal Utility Districts, or MUDs, are in the works for southeast Austin and could bring plenty of development to the area.

Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said MUDs can issue bonds to pay for pipes, sewage lines and other services within its boundaries. The districts can start large neighborhood areas, including Circle C.
The planned MUDs for southeast Austin could bring as many as 8,200 new homes, but the districts are still under city review.
