A decades-old RV park on Barton Springs Road will soon be a thing of the past.
Many have lived in the Manor Mobile RV Park for decades, back when some would say “Keeping Austin Weird” was more than just a slogan.
Resident David Sloan has kept a close count of his time on Barton Springs Road.
"Well I have lived in this mobile home for 21 years, six months and 29 days," he said.
At the end of the month, every one of the trailers will have to find a new place to park. According to Sloan, the owner brokered a deal to develop this property. Appraisal records show the land carries a $3 million price tag.
"They raised the taxes so high on this property the owners had to develop it into something else,” Sloan said. “From what I understand, they are not selling it, they're going to lease the property to the condo people."
Manor Mobile is not the first RV park to close on the highly sought after stretch of road.
Just behind Uncle Billy's and Austin Java, Shady Grove RV Park, with dozens of large pecan trees, fell victim to a high-end condo complex.
Until the remainder of the lots are vacant, memories keep pouring in from neighbors who are leaving behind what once was called "Old Austin."
"It's something they had to do, but it's sad in a way because you're moving away from all your friends you have had for years,” resident Edna Gunn said.
Phone calls made by YNN to the owner of the property were not immediately returned, and there is no word on what development might be going up at this location.
