Back in May, county crews started making the rounds, hauling material from the 10 pick-up zones.

"We've been working six to seven days a week, especially for the last couple of months," Jeff Land with Bastrop Tree Service said.

Of the 10 pick-up sites, only three remain to be collected. The dump trucks will make their final runs in July.

However, Bastrop County's Engineer, Ronnie Moore, wants the public to know, no pile will be left behind.

"This happens in every disaster. There comes a time when you have to say, ‘Let's roll things up and get going,’" he said. "If it's in the right of way, we're going to pick it up."

After the devastation of last year's mega blaze, Sue Castle is enjoying the new vegetation in her yard. She's aware local officials are trying to wrap things up, and says she appreciates the efforts.

"I realize they need to get things done and move on so I don't have a problem with the deadline," she said.

The clearing of debris for some, is also a part of the healing process.

"It breaks my heart. I moved here for the trees and the forest is almost nonexistent," Castle said.

Cleanup is expected to cost around $25 million. Seventy-five percent if that money is reimbursed by FEMA.
