Bobo Explores Light
There’s no question when science is put in the right hands for explanation, it often becomes really fun. It’s fair to say Bobo Explores Light is the right hands. The app explains and shows kids and parents many of the cool concepts and facts about nearly all things light, from lightning to photosynthesis to lasers. Each area has three sections of written information, which include some of the real science and then interesting stories or little known facts. Many also have little virtual science experiments like how colors are made, how light refracts or how glow in the dark stuff glows in the dark. It definitely gets filed in the "learning without realizing you're learning" category.
Bobo Explores Light is $6.99 on the iPad.
Stack the States
Stack the States is a fun way for kids to polish up on their geography this summer. It starts off with a game that asks questions and has you identify the correct state based on its shape. Get it right and you get to drop the state to the ground. Your goal is to stack the states high enough to cross the checkered line indicated on the screen. Once you do, you are rewarded. The more rewards you get, the closer you get to unlocking two other games. You also get a new state for your big map, which of course you're trying to fill up. Stack the States is $.99 for iOS devices.
