A Child Protective Services worker calling for assistance during a home visit lead to the arrest of a convicted felon who had dozens of weapons, drugs and nearly $50,000 in cash.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's office says a Child Protective Services employee asked for assistance during a home visit in Uhland. The CPS employee said she was worried about the safety of a juvenile in the home.

During the visit, deputies said they noticed two firearms in plain view, so they asked 39-year-old Marcelino Aguirre, a convicted felon, to let them search the rest of the home. They found dozens of weapons, various types of body armor and about 4,000 rounds of ammunition.

Deputies also seized methamphetamine and marijuana, six vehicles and $45,919 in cash.

According to authorities, Aguirre was charged with unlawful possession of metal or body armor by a felon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.

His bond was set at $270,000.
