According to the Arthritis Foundation, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, or JRA, affects approximately 300,000 children in the U.S., many of whom suffer from chronic discomfort.

Although the exact cause of JRA is unclear, it is believed to be an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system harms some of its own healthy tissues and cells.

Steroids are often used for treatment, but mostly for adults. Many doctors choose methotrexate for kids. Methrotrexate brings relief, but it can take anywhere from one to three months to work.
