Austin’s Simply Fit created a free program to help fight childhood obesity.
According to the Center for Disease Control, two out of three children in Texas are obese. Those with Austin Simply Fit said that’s why they decided to create their Hop, Skip and Jump Start program.
“It’s a once a week program. It’s free for an hour on Saturdays. We do exercises such as muscle building, bone strengthening, exercises to get their heart pumping, and we try to do that through games more often than not because we want fitness to be fun,” Austin’s Simply Fit President Mark Rogers said.
May is national fitness month. Learn more about it in this edition of “Active Now.”
