If you dream of having a big porch, you're going to love this.
Anna Trimble's home is equipped with a beautiful sleeping porch--it's an enclosed deck that's furnished and traditionally used for sleeping in the warmer months.
"Where I grew up in south Louisiana, sleeping porches were everywhere and kind of essential for hot, muggy summer nights," Trimble said. "We love it. We sleep out here during the fall, we eat dinner out here almost every night and it's a big attraction for the whole family."
The highlight of the porch is the swinging bed, which is big enough for Trimble and her children to sit on and read and also strong enough to withstand the "acrobatics" of Margaret, Trimble's oldest child. Moontower Design Build's Maggie McIntosh says she took all that into account when designing the bed.
"It turned out pretty well," McIntosh said. "It's a pretty simple design. It's something that you could really incorporate into any porch."
Trimble says the nicest time to utilize the bed is when the sun starts to set and the evening breeze picks up.
"You just feel like you're not in the city," she said. "You feel like you're out in the country a million miles away from anything that could possibly stress you out."
