With another hot summer and drought looming over central Texas, saving water in the home can be both good for the earth and your wallet.
Jason Ballard co-founded TreeHouse, a home improvement store dedicated to selling products to make homes more environmentally friendly. He said the number one use of water in the home is the toilet. By switching to a low-flush or dual-flush toilet, the water used for toilet purposes could be cut to about half.
Showers and faucets also have a big impact on the amount of water used. Replacing these fittings with water sense certified fixtures use less water and maintain the same performance as traditional ones.
