Love Food Hate Waste

Shopping for ingredients, planning a Thanksgiving meal and then cooking it has never been easier, thanks to loads and loads of mobile apps that help with everything from the shopping list to giving baby-step-by-baby-step cooking instructions. A simple search turns up loads of apps for every device.

"Love Food Hate Waste" is different in that it helps cooks prepare meals after Thanksgiving is all wrapped up and a week's worth of leftovers are staring you down every time you open the refrigerator.

The app helps people plan meals and size out proper portions, but the neat part is the "blender." The user goes through the different types of food they have available, throws them into a virtual blender, and when the "blend" button is hit the app spits out a whole bunch of yummy recipes based on the combination of ingredients.

"Love Food Hate Waste" is a free app for both Androids and iPhones.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade App

Those who watch the big Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade before the big meal now have an official app to help them do just that. Powered by MyCityWay, it's geared towards those actually going to the parade to see it in person, but certainly offers up some helpful info for those watching at home, too.

For paradegoers, the app offers information on the route, including how to track where different parts of the parade are, thereby allowing watchers to predict what's about to walk by them next. There are also locations of nearby bathrooms and restaurants and relevant transit information.

Features that anyone can appreciate include information, pictures and videos of some floats and participants, as well as the ability to follow and share messages with Santa, some marching bands and cheerleaders.

The "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" app is free for iOS and Android devices.
