Car enthusiasts don't put a price on craftsmanship.
High-end car sales are up in the Austin area. Roger Beasley Porche's sales are up 15 percent and John Eagle European’s sales are up 20 percent.
In the last five years, several high-end brands have come to Austin.
Roger Beasley brought in Maserati in 2009. John Eagle European opened Bentley, Aston Martin and Lotus that same year, then added Rolls-Royce in 2011. Ferrari set up shop in 2010.
After four decades of selling cars, John Eagle European’s Sonny Morgan knows selling high-end ones are as good as it gets.
"There's not really one person, one demographic. It’s across the board from a to z, female, male, married, single, executive, doctor, lawyer. It’s all across the board," Morgan said of the typical high-end buyer.
Zinger Hardware’s Michael Ferweda owns a Porche Boxter Spider. His prized possession cost him about $90,000.
"I love having a great-handling vehicle as a daily driver. The Austin roads make it easy to drive this vehicle without bottoming out," he said. "I think there's a revival for wanting to be able to have that sports car to be able to feel the road and have that experience of driving again."
