This week on Fashionably 8, we ventured to Birds Barbershop on South Lamar, one of their four locations.

Birds has been voted Best Barbershop by the Austin Chronicle all four years it has been open. It has also been featured in Elle Magazine as one of their Top 100 Salons.

The look we're searching for is fun, easy summer hair. Our stylist, Allie Barnard, created two simple, do-it-yourself summer hairstyles that are in style for this upcoming season.

The first look she created was long, beachy waves.

The first step is prepping the hair with hairspray. Just a light spritz is enough.

Then take a large barrel curling iron, rolling the hair up from the bottom tips to the roots. You take small pieces of hair and do that all over the head, again and again. Then take anti-frizz serum and twist it through the curls.

"It kind of separates the curls a little bit, and just gets rid of fly-aways," Barnard said.

And the result is fun, easy beachy waves -- a perfect summer style.

The second look is also attainable at home, it just takes a little more effort.

For this simple side ponytail, Barnard first teases the hair at the top of the roots. You want to achieve a big Texas look at first, just for volume.

Then, smooth it down by combing it back down, and spraying it with hairspray.

Next, you take the hair and pull it to the side in a low ponytail. Wrap your rubberband around the ponytail. Then take a little piece of hair, wrap it around the rubberband, and then bobby pin it underneath.

"It just sort of disguises it and will make it look cuter too," Barnard said.

For a finishing touch, run a curling iron through the ponytail one more time, and add anti-frizz serum.

Both looks are fun, easy ways to add some flair to your summer look and feel fashionable for the summer.
