There was more going on at the Austin City Limits Music Festival than live music and enormous crowds—a lot of green tech was happening at the same time.

Thanks to local company Solar Community, much of the festival was “off the grid,” meaning it drew very little power from our conventional power grid.

A large solar array combined with a bay of high-tech batteries provided the green power.

Solar Community, an Austin-based company founded in 2007, said that while 2012 was their first year working with the music festival, they’d love to come back.
