America Recycles Day was Nov. 15, but many may not know it is initiative that started right here in Austin.

A couple of state workers started Texas Recycles Day 15 years ago. As the years went on, the program grew.

By 1997, 44 states were on board and Vice President AL Gore was the program’s chair.
