Some Austin neighborhoods now have a third type of waste collection--organics.

The green bins were rolled out in select neighborhoods at the start of this year as part of a pilot program. These bins are designed to hold a combination of food scraps and yard trimmings.

The organic material will go to a compost center, and the compost will hopefully be made available to the public, much like Dillo Dirt.

You can read more about the curbside organic collection here.
