Randy Rice and Jonathon Morgan, co-founders of Simply Family Locator, have designed an app that uses cell phone towers or GPS signal to find a person's location.

The co-founders tout that the app is convenient, easy to use and good to have in case of emergency situations.

"It makes it really simple for parents to be able to, with a simple text message, check on the location of their children," Rice said.

Rice, father of two teenagers, said his own children use the app to locate him when he picks them up from school.

Users do not need a smart phone to use the locator, either. Morgan said the app can be accessed through any cell phone, computer, or other device that is able to send text messages.

Jennifer Borget has more on the story in the video above.
