Most of us have a resolution to stay fit and eat healthier in the New Year, but many new goals don’t even last until summer.

Pediatrician Dr. Marta Katalenas’s new book The Step-up Diet has a plan that may be easier to stick to year-round. She proposes mini-resolutions to accomplish each month, reaching the goal of healthy living one step at a time.

For example, in January the goal is to eat a piece of fruit every morning. In February, jump roping for 10 minutes every morning. In March, Dr. Katalenas suggests nixing sugars and sodas, and in April, walking for 15 minutes every day.

Get all of the 12-month resolutions in this “Growing Up Texas” in the video above.
