A long family tradition has led to one of the greatest pie shops in the entire southwest.
The idea for Cutie Pies started about 60 or 70 years ago with owner Jaynie Buckingham’s mother.
Buckingham said, “She was Martha Stewart before Martha knew she was Martha.”
“We took all of her recipes and put them in a book, and about 20 years after she passed away, I started pulling out her cookbook and went about making her buttermilk recipe and entered it into the signature pie contest at the Driskill Hotel and it won. So, it’s been on their menu about a year and a half now," she said.
Their Top Five best-selling pies are:
1. Buttermillk
2. Chocolate Icebox Pie
3. Heath Toffee Pecan
4. Fudge Brownie
5. Coconut Cream
As the Pie Queen, Buckingham herself says, “Come on down and stuff your pie hole.”
