One good way to keep up your indoor landscape during the cold winter months is with cyclamen.
Cyclamen makes a nice house plant, if you keep them in a very bright, sunny part of the house or move them outside during the day and then in the evening time.
They work well in a large bowl-type container with a mix of a lot of different plants and colors, or as individual plants.
Cyclamen also do very well outdoors, and can even take the cold weather quite well. As long as temperatures don't fall below the mid-20s, they'll hold up well in an outdoor landscape.
The plant does well in an area that has some brightness, but not direct sun. A little morning sun is okay, but a very bright rest-of-the-day shade is good. In fact, underneath a large oak tree that's been trimmed up well is a good spot for cyclamen.
Cyclamens hold their blooms well above the foliage with the petals pointing upwards, giving the appearance of falling stars out in the landscape. The plant comes in many different colors, including white, pinks, lavender and maroon, all of which are bright.
